About Fitness By Design

Fitness By Design was launched in September 2001 to meet the growing demand for a professional personal training company in the local area. Initially it was located at North Dorset Rugby Club until November 2003 when the purchase of unit 19 Old Market Centre provided a much bigger location centrally located in Gillingham near the train station with its own private parking. Since its official opening on February 29th 2004 our membership has grown from 200 to almost 1200 gym members in 7 years.

Fitness By Design also caters for disabled users with easy access and toilet facilities. There are also several specialised machines including the latest Viva 2 medimotion bicycle which will passively drive either arms or legs as well as resistance machines which are wheel chair friendly to enable a full workout. We have lots of members with medical conditions attending the club and getting fantastic results.

Established in September 2001 by Colin Fricker, the current owner, the club has seen amazing results with hundreds of members and has expanded its facilities extensively and is now regarded as the premier fitness facility in North Dorset.

We have a large team of highly qualified Personal Training consultants to ensure that you are never left alone, that teach and motivate you, to help you achieve your desired results. Free one to one reviews of your programme with a Personal Trainer included in your membership ensure you maximise your results, coupled with a comprehensive Healthy Eating Programme to guarantee weight loss when required. We are very much a family orientated club, where our friendly team of fitness professionals make everyone feel welcome, regardless of age, shape, size or ability.
