One of us has worked in banking for over twenty-five years and the other is a Chartered Certified Accountant (definitely not what you expect an accountant to be like) who has also been in finance for over twenty-five years. Perhaps the best way of explaining our ethos is that we have soul – sounds a bit cheesy perhaps, but what this means is that we get a buzz when one of our customers gets his dream property, or when we help a customer to get money back from someone who has tried it on, or where we do what our customers thought was difficult or impossible and to hear the words “We wish we’d come to you at the beginning”, or “You’re the only people we have spoken to who have talked any sense”. Equally, we get angry when we get calls from customers who we can’t help because another firm has raised finance in a way that gives them no other alternatives. And, of course, we can’t help everybody though we are honest enough to explain why right at the very beginning. Sometimes we will actually decide not to help someone because we do not believe they should do what they are doing and there is one of our case studies to illustrate this point.
