We are committed to supporting and caring for the families that come to us, taking care of every aspect of the funeral.

With that we hope that the funeral will be personal to them and that even after the funeral has taken place we are still there to support them.

I took over the running of Firmager Funeral Service in 2009 on the passing away of my husband Michael Owen and his business partner Bert Firmager. My background until then had been in the social care sector having managed care homes; become a trainer in social care and then an Inspector for the Care Quality Commission, inspecting care homes and hospitals. These experiences have shown me how people should be treated. Everyone should expect and get a service that is individual and personal to them. We also like to have close links with local care homes by providing free training and try to provide some support outside of our usual role.

We are the only independent funeral business on Romney Marsh, based in New Romney, Kent. It is owned by Wendy Alder (Owen) and David and Albert Firmager and is very much a family concern.

Wendy has run the business since the death of both her husband Michael Owen and business partner Bert Firmager. This is very much with the help and support of her small team of staff, Phil Tanner (Funeral Director) and Helen Carr (Senior Funeral Arranger).

Losing someone is such a difficult time and you are at your most vulnerable. It can be quite intimidating walking through the door and saying those words. We hope we provide a place for people which is homely, welcoming and calming. There is time just to sit and talk and decide on what it is that you want for your family member. There are so many decisions to be made so time is needed. After all, this is the last thing you can do for your loved one, so making it personal to them and you is so important.
