We are an independent company of craftsmen who for thirty years have specialised in the design and making of
and all kinds of other fine furniture, from simple alcove cupboards to elaborate bedroom suites. From our cabinet making workshop in Westerham, Kent, we build and install fine hand-made wooden and painted furniture for clients throughout the South East. Our website aims to give you an insight into the varied range of bespoke kitchens and fine furniture that we produce, as well as showcase the quality of our work.
Unlike the majority of high-street kitchen and bedroom companies, we do not have standardised ranges or sizes of cabinets. The starting point in every case is a conversation with you, the client. We spend time discussing your project – your needs and wishes and then use our experience to help you develop a design which will not only satisfy your individual tastes, but which will provide a practical solution to your requirements. The quality of our bespoke kitchens and
means that they will continue doing their job for many years to come.
Craftsmanship is all about the ability to take pains to get the job right, and we carry this attitude through from the making of the work into our relations with our clients. Once you have made contact with us, you will be dealing with the same team of people throughout the entire process. We understand what an invasion of your private space it is to have workmen in your house, and we aim to make the experience as painless as possible. We are friendly and fully house-trained; we keep to our deadlines; we do all we can to accommodate changes as projects progress; and we tidy up after ourselves. This is not just because we are nice people, which we are, but also because the great bulk of our work has always come from recommendations and repeat business; the long-term relationships we hold with our clients are one of the most satisfying aspects of our work – happy customers are vital to our future.
Please take a look around our site – we are confident that the quality of what we do will speak for itself, more eloquently than our words could. The craftsmen’s time and individual attention that go into our bespoke kitchens and furniture have a cost, of course, but in return you will have something truly unique, which will remain satisfying for years to come.
Juliana runs the accounting side of the business. Her experience in software and accountancy insures the company runs smoothly.
Joe joined us in December 2013 after working as a cabinet maker. With over 18 years of experience in the woodworking industry, he has the enthusiasm and organisational ability needed to keep the workshop running smoothly. He takes the final furniture designs and assesses the production requirements so that he can programme the manufacturing process. As an accomplished cabinet maker himself, he is in a perfect position to manage the workshop and maintain the high standards we expect.
No one becomes a cabinet-maker to get rich – people do it because they love the work. We have a great team of skilled wood-workers behind us in the workshop, who are all extremely hard-working and passionate about what they do. They are motivated to work together closely to produce the high quality furniture that we are so proud of.
and pride ourselves in working closely with our clients to make their projects work for them within their budgets. We don’t have the large overheads of flashy showrooms and glossy brochures to cover, which helps with this.
We generally like to fit our cabinets ourselves but we are very happy to supply to customers who wish to make their own arrangements for fitting.
We normally organise this – we have a very experienced partner company, who have done granite and quartz stone worktops for us for many years and other specialists for glass or Corian worktops, while we do wooden or laminate tops where required. Some customers have their own contractors that they wish to use: we can provide drawings and notes for quoting if required.
Whether we supply them or you source them yourself, we will take responsibility for ensuring the appliances fit, provided we know in good time what you have chosen! We can arrange for qualified tradesman to do plumbing and electrical connections, but on most of our jobs there have already been appropriate trades people in to do the first-fix stages of these works, and it is usually better for the same people to complete the connections. We expect to provide a set of plumbing and electrical drawings to ensure a satisfactory installation.
At Wood Works of Westerham, we are confident in our ability to deliver handmade kitchens and fine furniture for the home – but don’t take our word for it. Read our customer testimonials and see how we fair.
Initially I chose Wood Works of Westerham through a recommendation from another of John’s customers but then the way John engaged with me, the pictures of other client jobs as well as a visit they arranged to a recently installed kitchen of theirs, combined with a very reasonable price made the decision easy for me. I was looking for a high quality kitchen that would stand the test of time, have a wow factor and fit the room, rather than be fudged into the space. I also wanted someone who would help me design it based on some existing ideas that I had, which Wood Works did. It was very important to me to find someone I trusted and who listened to me, as well as obviously getting a quality product, value for money and someone who would organise everything needed to fit the kitchen. I am very happy with the service I have received – so much so I decided to order some wardrobes as well, which are excellent quality, they look amazing and the fitter was very helpful.
Many thanks for my beautiful kitchen. I have been really pleased with the Wood Works team. Everyone, from John and Adrian, Joe, Carl and Matt have been really prompt, efficient, and helpful – a delightful change from my experiences elsewhere. Please accept my grateful thanks to everyone who has been involved in creating our new kitchen in Putney. My family are really looking forward to gathering there in the near future.
