(CFR) was established in 2005 as an independent fire resistance test laboratory, but has roots going back over 30 years. We have worked hard to build a broad and loyal customer base, in both the UK and overseas, and are committed to providing a reliable and cost effective route for product development and certification across a wide range of sectors. Two state-of-the-art gas furnaces and the choice of full, medium or small scale specimen options allows CFR to provide the most economical fire test solution to its clients. The furnaces have automated control of temperature and pressure and a conveniently located screen displays live data from specimen thermocouples and radiometers. Precise hosestream delivery for ASTM and UL tests is guaranteed by a sophisticated water pump with automatic pressure control. CFR has spacious and confidential areas for specimen installation, canteen facilities, a comfortable viewing room with positive pressure air feed and a separate meeting room with Wi-Fi connectivity. For clients who are unable to attend their fire test in person, a remote web-based viewing service is available via a live video feed. CFR has UKAS accreditation for a variety of British, European, US and International fire test standards and is a Notified Body (No. 2337) for testing under the EU Construction Products Directive/Regulation. As such, its test evidence is acceptable for the purposes of 3rd-party approvals (e.g. Q-Mark, Certifire and IFCC), CE marking and UL certification. Through association, CFR can provide a route to certification and other affiliated services such as consultancy (including product assessments) and acoustic testing. CFR are also members of the Fire Test Study Group (FTSG).

To prevent the spread of fire within the built environment and maintain means of escape, building legislation across the world often requires that separating elements, such as partitions, doors and glazed screens, offer known resistance to fire exposure. Cambridge Fire Research (CFR) is a specialist UK fire resistance and product development test laboratory. It provides ISO/IEC 17025:2005 UKAS accredited fire tests to a variety of British, European, US and International standards, relevant to building codes, CE marking and 3rd-party approval. It also conducts indicative and ad-hoc fire tests for the purposes of product development and certification. A
of the European Commission, CFR is able to deliver fire testing services necessary for product conformity assessment to harmonised Product Standards and ETAGs (Guidelines for European Technical Approval) under the EU Construction Products Directive/Regulation.
