Legume Technology was established in 2000 and has steadily grown by customer referrals and by providing consistently high quality products. Competing against inoculant products from several global companies, we are proud to offer a better customer experience – being able to offer flexibility that is impossible for larger companies (see our case studies on the Distributor page).
Our company began in 2000, producing around 1000 packs of inoculant in the first year. We now have 2 full aseptic production lines capable of producing 2000 packets a day. With a production capacity that far outstrips our current sales, we are very keen to find distributors who want to sell high quality inoculant products. Over 99% of our sales are exported outside the UK and we successfully sell into more than 20 countries.
We are developing a new range of products that incorporate ‘added benefits’. We have research and development projects with industrial partners, research institutes and universities that are at the fore-front of science techniques and understanding. Our aim is that our products enhance seedling health and early establishment leading to higher yield.
Every field is different, every season has its own challenges. Its our aim to make sure every time a farmer chooses one of our products that the quality of the inoculant is one less variable to worry about. Field trials showing significant yield increase of over 70% for soybean in Canada. Trials on peas in the UK showed a 10% increase in yield, even in soils with an effective natural population of rhizobium (2016 results).
With a background in microbial research the company was founded on the prinicples of sterile made high quality products that have excellent shelf life and provide an effective dose of the crop specific ntrogen fixing partner bacteria.

We are currently working with a leading uinversity in the UK to bring cutting edge genetic screening techniques into the field to isolate natrually occuring ‘elite’ strains to increase the competitive performance of our inoculants. In addition to the core function of our inoculants we are building into the products additional benefits such as bio-active compounds that speed up germination in cool planting conditions.
