They may visit local places and take photographs to create a collage or poster to display in class. They may interview people in the local community to find out more about England, English customs and culture and with their teacher’s help they may create a student magazine of their experiences. In the classroom students will mostly work with authentic material to research and learn about English life and culture. They will improve their speaking and communicative skills and increase their vocabulary. Students who produce a student magazine will be able to take copies of this home to show their friends and families.

During this activity students will solve a murder mystery in one week. A teacher will give them information and clues and students will need to take roles and solve the mystery by the end of the week. Students may need to take photos of the crime scene, interview witnesses and suspects and decide who committed the crime. They can bring their laptops to class and use their mobile phones to take photos and record witness statements if they wish. The teacher will help and guide students with the language they will need to complete the task.
