Packrobat Automation
We live in a consumer driven world where multi ordering channels are constantly available to us via smart phone, tablet and PC. For the majority receiving an ‘order confirmation’ completes the process, but for those inside the logistics supply chain it’s where the real work begins.
PA aim to deliver cost effective streamlining and development of key end of line processes in any warehouse, simplifying order fulfilment through collaboration and knowledge sharing; pick, pack, label and sort? then we are the right partner for you.
The Company got off to a flyer from day one, following the successful development and launch of one of the worlds first E-com (home delivery) packaging systems. The machine creates a robust film / corrugated combination pack (Q-12) designed to shrink-wrap single item and mixed multiple orders inside a unique style of carton, automatically formed and labelled ready to go!
Its timing was perfect, as release to market coincided with the then popular mail order, book and music club distribution streams, before quickly being overrun by the online ordering phenomenon we know today. The Q-12 system was developed alongside Cambridge University Press, who kindly invested in a prototype and with their blessing Q-12 was soon integrated inside a further 15 book distribution centres, spanning the UK, Eastern Europe, Channel Islands and USA. Today, systems can be seen handling a wide range of other products including multi-media, home entertainment, electricals, computer and office equipment.
Development is still very much key to the business and for that reason have always maintained a wide pool of expertise and engineering partners to collaborate with, resulting in the design and integration of many bespoke machines across various disciplines and industry sectors.
Meanwhile wholesalers are being pressed to control costs to protect margin, which is being constantly eroded by the multi nationals and the E-com sector. As marginal gains are important it is worth considering; order consolidation, avoid shipping fresh, eliminate expensive void fill (good product to pack size ratio) and package goods securely and robustly to avoid unnecessary damage returns.
We have always understood the importance of peripheral business that surrounds any machinery sale; total project management, spare parts, engineering services, tailor-made service contracts and packaging materials, which have all been key to our and our clients success.
The decision to re-brand the business in 2017 was made easier by allowing the previous brand identity to underpin and celebrate the past successes of Packrobat Ltd. Looking ahead, the name change, new logo, website, fresh colour palette and business model are fully reflective of where Packrobat Automation Ltd currently sits, and has been launched to carry the business into the foreseeable future and beyond.
