Our range of contact lenses offers solutions for all types of wearers, whether full time, occasional or needing complicated prescriptions. Talk to us about our Eyeplan scheme which spreads the cost, covers aftercare appointments and provides you with everything you need.
Like all of us, spectacles can go out of shape or simply get a bit worn out. But help is at hand from our dispensing opticians as they can straighten, adjust, re-fit and repair.
We also custom make contact lenses for people who want the convenience and excellent vision provided by contact lenses but who have sensitive eyes, dry eyes or complex prescriptions which otherwise prevent them from buying standard lenses.
Soft contact lenses are the most popular choice for a number of reasons. They are made from the latest optical technology, making them comfortable, flexible and extremely breathable for long hours of wear. Their adaptable design also means they are compatible for almost anyone who wants to wear lenses.
Daily Disposable also known as dailies and are designed to be worn for one day and then thrown away. They require no additional products such as contact lens solution, although wearers sometimes find it handy to have some eye drops available if their eyes start to dry out.
Extended Wear are contact lenses are made from silicone hydrogel, one of the latest advancements in lens technology. The silicone hydrogel material allows up to five times more oxygen to reach the eyes surface than that of a traditional soft lens, making these contact lenses exceptional breathable.
Extended wear contact lenses are also a popular choice because they can be worn continuously for a period of time, usually no great than 30 days. This means you don’t need to take them out when you sleep or shower, making them extremely low maintenance.
RGP contact lenses are especially suitable for those with a large or complicated prescription and can provide high levels of comfort and clarity.
In fact, modern rigid gas permeable contacts allow more oxygen to reach the cornea than most soft contact lenses (although some silicone hydrogel soft lenses are comparable to GP lenses in oxygen transmission).
RGP lenses also provide better vision, durability, and deposit resistance than soft contact lenses. And because they last longer than soft lenses, they can be less expensive in the long term.
Gas permeable contact lenses offer some outstanding benefits over soft lenses. For one, because GP lenses are made from a firm plastic material, they retain their shape when you blink, which tends to provide sharper vision than pliable soft lenses.
Multifocal contact lenses are contact lenses with multiple prescriptions all in one lens. There is typically a prescription for very close objects, one prescription for normal objects viewed at a distance, and then prescriptions for intermediate distances. Talk to us at Melina Joy Opticians about the advantages of multifocal lenses and whether they might be right for you.
