Coffee Community is one of the longest running independent companies specializing in barista training and consulting to the café and coffee industry. Which is why we are one of the only UK companies used by major high street café brands, espresso machine manufacturers, roasters and dairies, both in the UK and internationally.
The commitment to improving coffee skills and knowledge went on. Managing Director, Paul Meikle-Janney, was co-creator of the City & Guilds qualification, as well as helping to develop the SCAE’s, Speciality Coffee Association of Europe, Coffee Diploma (An industry qualification with modules in Green Coffee, Sensory Skills, Roasting, Brewing and Barista Skills). He is a past advisory board member for the WCE (World Coffee Events, who run the WBC and other world coffee competitions), was the Head Judge for the World Latte Art and the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship for the last 4 years, and sits on the Education Committee of the SCAE.
Our facilities are second to none with a range of the very best espresso machines (with multi boiler technology, pressure profiling etc.), grinders, a state of the art cupping station and loads of other brewing equipment. We are now located with our roasting company, Dark Woods Coffee, which means you can see the whole roasting process in action on the vintage Probat UG22. The beautifully restored mill nestles in the Yorkshire Moors right next to the River Colne. A relaxing place to come and learn all about coffee.
Dave was a full time trainer with Coffee Community for many years but now splits his time between his training and running his celebrated café, Laynes Espresso, in Leeds, often listed as the best café in the North.
Starting in coffee working in top cafes in Melbourne, Ben returned to the UK to train for Coffee Community in London and the South. He now splits his time between his training and his café, The Espresso Room, on Great Ormond Street in London. The Espresso Room was one of the originals in the new wave of excellent cafes in London and often quoted as one of the very best.
Sally is our company secretary and assists with the vital administration needed.
