After completing a three-year apprenticeship with Rolls Royce David continued his studies at Sussex University, obtaining an honours degree in Engineering and a Masters degree in Technology Management. David returned for a further year at Rolls Royce, Derby, before joining his father in 1993. Using his business and technical expertise he has developed the business to its current form. He is the driving force behind the Company's progress and is the main point of contact for all our customers. He is able to offer informative technical assistance and help regarding all our products.
After completing an apprenticeship and degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ian spent 20 years in the manufacturing industry. He worked in various capacities, including maintenance and design, where he has gained a wealth of experience. Automatic Conversions was born as a quest for a reliable transmission after successfully destroying endless Series II & III gearboxes with a V8 engine. Other developments followed in an attempt to further improve reliability of the drive train. He has considerable technical knowledge, which he has demonstrated in the design of most of our products. He has officially retired now but still offers his advice and expertise when required on the design and specialist work.

We are a UK based company solely specialising in the supply of rebuilt manual and automatic gearboxes, transfer cases and differentials to suit Land Rover, Range Rover, Discovery and Freelander 4x4 vehicles.
Rebuilding transmissions is our core business but we also supply other related products such as gearing changes, heavy duty axle components, locking diffs and Defender automatic conversion kits to name a few. We have listed most of our product range but it is impossible to detail everything.
The site sections cover most of our products but often an enquiry will sometimes overlap 2 or 3 sections. If this is the case, please give the vehicle specification and intended use so we can offer the best advise and quote correctly. We aim to dispatch transmissions units usually within 1 -5 working days of any order being placed and many parts can be dispatched for overnight delivery within the UK. We will provide individual carriage quotes for each order. Payments can be made securely via Sagepay, Paypal or bank transfer.
