Trelleborg Marine Systems UK is a world leading UK specialist company, developing and manufacturing specialised measurement, communications and safety systems for ships and other marine installations.
Trelleborg Marine Systems UK was formed as SeaTechnik in 1999 by engineers who had been developing marine electronic systems since the mid 1980's. Early products included the pioneering Ship Performance Optimisation System which controlled propulsion for ferries on fixed routes, saving operators 6-10% annually on the cost of fuel.
In January 2013 SeaTechnik was acquired by Trelleborg, a world leader in engineered polymer solutions that damp, seal and protect critical applications in demanding environments. SeaTechnik was renamed Trelleborg Marine Systems UK, and now forms part of the Trelleborg Marine Systems business unit.
Trelleborg Marine Systems UK now provides electronic systems to all sectors of the marine industry and specialises in systems required by the rapidly developing liquid gas transportation industry. Trelleborg Marine Systems UK is acknowledged worldwide as an expert in the provision of Ship-Shore Link (SSL) systems, which incorporate Emergency Shut Down (ESD) and telephone/data communications between LNG/LPG ships and shore installations. Complying with the stringent safety requirements for berthing at export/import terminals and SIGTTO guidelines, these systems rationalise the various connectors and communication protocols in a single product assuring operators of worldwide compatibility.
We continue to lead the way in ship – shore link new product development and our Universal Safety Link (USL) is now in service at various locations where small scale LNG transfer operations for example bunkering and fuelling are required.
Trelleborg Marine Systems UK has also designed and delivered hundreds of Ship Performance Monitor (SPM) and shaft power meter systems. These systems allow the engineers on board to pinpoint inefficiencies in propulsion steam plant and allows plant to be easily returned to peak performance. On LNG gas carriers, an on-line Energy-Heat-Balance module can now provide steam plant and whole ship fuel optimising within the standard Ship Performance Monitor system.
