Mayfield Press started as a conventional litho printer, adopting new processes as technology became available. Mayfield has therefore had a firm foundation in this method of printing and a wealth of experience generated from many years and of a huge variety of options, techniques and items of all types, shapes, sizes, papers and stock.
We have to guarantee a delivery to their London W1 Head office for 9.00am 48hours later without fail. The final product is distributed internally to the Retail and Marketing sector for internal training.
Whilst the client says that there are some other suppliers who can match the deadlines on this monthly project, only Mayfield reaches a consistently high level of accuracy and quality of the final product, which they can’t find anywhere else.
A financial services company were hosting an event at the Stock Exchange, both for their existing clients and potential clients and asked us to provide the name badges for their staff and these customers.
Through discussions, we suggested that it might be useful for staff to be able to see quickly and discreetly who were existing clients at the event and who were prospective clients. We devised a simple but subtle way to differentiate. A larger badge was designed for staff with a smaller badge for clients. However, we then added a colour coding reference so that staff could easily establish which of the attendees were clients and which were not, without making it obvious to the attendees themselves.
Web to print is an online template system which provides our customers with the tools to take more control of their own design and print process. It is highly cost-effective and helps keep design and branding strong and consistent across users, products, branches, locations and regions.
In basic terms, we build a template that you can use to design and upload artwork, edit text and order online. We receive it print-ready and can then produce it on site. It is especially ideal for business cards, posters, leaflets and menus.
We are responsive to our clients’ needs and this service provides a way to produce printed items (of all kinds) that maintain brand consistency in a cost-effective fashion. Mayfield’s pre-designed Web to Print templates mean that our customers can generate and approve their own personalised, yet standardised and correctly branded products, ready to be printed when ordered.
Our Web to Print service also enables our clients to browse a personalised online catalogue of standard products and then order from their pre-paid stock or order pay-on-demand items. So in most cases, print orders are priced in real time, as their details are defined.
Our aim is to help our clients to anticipate future costs – an example of our commitment to customer service.
Case Study : Retail Electrical Goods Company
This world-wide household-name business wanted to ensure print quality and brand consistency across the globe but still provide individuals with the ability to design their own business cards without having to tie up artworkers’ time. Previously they were paying £90 for 200 business cards and it was three weeks until delivery of the cards.
We were also able to offer different reverse artworks on the cards which meant that for every box of 200 cards, each employee would receive a mixed box with 20 different reverse artworks; each portraying a different product. There are now templates set up for each of 12 countries, and even with different styles of card for different areas of the business.
To keep up with client demand we have created a mailing and bindary facility to manage your mailings in-house. We can advise you how to take full advantage of postage rates and provide you with the most cost-effective options.
We are used to dealing with confidential material and have been working with sensitive text and data for many years. Alongside standard FTP access for file transfer we are also able to offer secure FTP for uploading confidential material. The process encrypts files before transmission, remaining so during transmission and unencrypted at source. The system also sits behind a Barracuda fire wall.[/box_2]
An initial concept had to be designed with both graphical and tabular elements for the figures that would be provided. Data would be supplied via secure FTP upload.
We also provide online customer stock control where the customer has access to a pass-worded internet-based stock control system which automatically notifies Mayfield of the stock call-offs and delivery details. The system is also able to prompt re-orders as pre-agreed minimum stock levels are reached.
We have worked with an internationally known pharmaceutical company over the last 15 years and for the last seven years we have offered them a stock control / ordering and distribution service.
This is typically how it works. A marketing manager, one of 50, will login using his / her own login details, view the stock site where they will see a thumbnail image, and view a pdf of the items required. A quantity is selected and each product will have an order quantity limit pre-determined, so managers cannot over order on any item. Orders are then completed online and a time and delivery address is set up. Once this is done, the system will generate an order and delivery note instruction to Mayfield Press along with email confirmations to the client.
What is Post-Production?
Post-production is the umbrella term for anything that takes place after the printing, the things that ‘finish’ your product, be it stitching, creasing or laminating or mounting, binding and drilling.
It’s the finishing that makes a job look truly professional (or can spoil it) and we pay special attention to these final stages. Mayfield Press has more in-house capability than many other printers but, sometimes, for a highly-specialist post production item such as ring-binding, we will use the services of one of our trusted partners who share our high standards.
