ABOUT GOWERCROFT LIMITED

We are a premium quality, full service, UK-manufacturer of joinery products with extended guarantees. Designing, manufacturing and installing windows, doors, garden rooms and internal fittings for new build, renovation and heritage projects.

At the point of the initial enquiry, we will discuss the project with you either on the phone or in person. After listening to the end result you hope to achieve and key features that are important to you, we will provide input and pricing ramifications on the options available. Once the scope has been narrowed down, we will provide a quotation with full specification details and a fixed price for your consideration. Where projects require high levels of design input, we will collaborate with you to produce and refine CAD drawings. Our intention is to deliver exactly what you want and make sure that you understand exactly what you are getting up front. Nobody likes surprises.

After the specification is agreed and a deposit is in place, we may need to undertake a full site survey. The sizes taken at survey or given by the builder/architect will then provide the basis of a works order. The project is released to the factory and manufacture begins. High quality timber is machined and assembled to an accuracy of 0.1mm by a team of dedicated craftsmen. All products are then finished using the required coatings with a comprehensive 8-10 year guarantee. Finally, the items enter fit-up where handles, hinges, glazing and other fittings are added.

We undergo 5 separate quality control checks as the products pass through the workshop to ensure that any potential issues are caught and rectified early; minimising potential delays and maximising final quality.

We have dedicated installation teams who travel across the U.K. to deliver and fit our products. These fitters understand our products and they ensure that the exceptional work done in the factory is continued to final installation. They work systematically to cause minimal disruption, and leave the site clean at the end of each work day.

Our products are designed to achieve very high standards on energy efficiency and draught-proofing to reduce energy usage throughout their lifespans.

We exclusively use water-based paints and finishes. These coatings do not release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are toxic to the environment and can be carcinogenic to humans and animals. Water-based paints are safe for disposal and have a long shelf life. Products painted with water-based paints are safe to burn in domestic applications at the end of their service life – so our products will never end up in the landfill.

All of our standard products are made from fast-growing, long lasting timber from plantations in the developed world. These trees take about 25 years to reach full maturity, but will last upwards of 50 years in application – being a net Carbon sink. If we are required to use tropical hardwoods, then all of these timbers will come from managed plantations independently-verified under European regulations for sustainability.

All joinery products brought back from sites across the U.K. are fully disassembled; with glass and ironmongery recycled and the timber put through the Biomass burner (where the paint system allows). All uPVC and Aluminium frames are taken away for recycling.

We are very proud to be based in the UK and carry out all of our production in our Derbyshire workshop.

We contribute to the UK economy and deliver product based on many years of knowledge of traditional UK joinery design and climatic conditions. We always welcome existing and potential. If you are interested in visiting us and seeing our production facilities, simply call us to make an appointment.

The most important element of a quality culture is the people involved and each has a responsibility for enforcing standards with the person next to them. For this reason we have always utilised apprenticeships to develop long-term key staff members who understand the requirements. Typically 10% of our total work force is currently in an apprenticeship and many more have graduated and stayed with the business.

Your products will be delivered and installed in perfect condition and the guidelines below will enable you to keep them looking pristine. With the right aftercare, hardwood and Accoya products can literally last a lifetime.

Growing trees contain high levels of sap which is reduced substantially when timber is dried out in kilns. Nevertheless moisture levels in timber can change during manufacture and particularly when introduced to a wet winter or when a new build room is plastered after timber windows and doors are fitted. Water-based, micro-porous paints allow water to pass through so that the timber can reach a steady moisture level. Extra moisture in timber will allow wood to swell and could make doors difficult to open and close. Gowercroft take responsibility for ensuring that your product fits perfectly when this steady moisture level is reached after the first six months. If you still experience difficulty once your project is complete and conditions settled we will attend site to make any adjustments necessary. All timber movements are covered under your 10 year guarantee except for European Oak where you will be expecting considerable movement. Whilst you may wish to have the charm and distinctiveness of the European Oak this would not be covered under the guarantee, unless we deem that the structural integrity is significantly reduced.

When the builders have left the site please undertake an initial inspection of your products and ensure that all moisture attracting materials such as sand or leaves are removed from contact with the coated surfaces. This material would otherwise prevent the coating from working properly and could cause it to peel off. Use water to remove any residues of plaster, mortar and other aggressive building materials without delay.

Product Adjustment

As explained above, there is a period of settling in after installation is complete. Our products are designed to allow small and simple adjustments to be made to ensure that performance and functionality are correct. Full details of these adjustments can be found in our Installation Manual, available either by request or from our website at the following address:
