The Hebridean Soap Company is the first commercial soap-producing company in the Western Isles. It was begun formally in 2002, with the aim of producing a natural soap, made in the old traditional ways, from local ingredients where possible, which would be kinder to skin, but still excite the senses.
I had made soap for friends and family for many years, and in 2003 I successfully expanded the production and range of products and started supplying local and mainland hotels.
Now, a large part of my business is to supply the private gift market through my
Linda Sutherland, Hebridean Soap Company.
I am zealously enthusiastic about our beautiful islands, which in my opinion are one of the best-kept secrets in the world. I am always available to give information, advice, further contacts, or just chat about any aspect of this wonderful place, or indeed, about my soapmaking, so should you have any questions, please feel free to email me!
They have been certified for production by an independent analytical chemist.
They all conform to the relevant EU Directives for Cosmetic Products.
Absolutely NO products in my range contain animal fats, nor have they been tested on, or involved cruelty to, animals.
During the manufacture of Mass-Produced Soaps, Glycerin is produced and is either washed away with the other waste products, or it is extracted and sold on to the food or cosmetics industry.
At the Hebridean Soap Company I only use high-quality everyday ingredients in my Soap:
The Hebridean Soap Company
Direct from the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, the Hebridean Soap Company brings you natural handmade soap to awaken your senses, and calm your spirit!
Using the traditional cold-process mix and pour method, and natural everyday ingredients: palm and coconut oils for a firm bar with luxurious, creamy bubbles, my soap is mixed by hand, moulded in birchwood moulds and then allowed to ‘cure’ for 4-6 weeks. After the curing period, each bar is finished and labelled by hand to create hand-crafted soap of all shapes and sizes.
