Introducing Armex
Armex is proud to be the wholesaler for many prestigious brands of field sports related equipment in the UK. We export our own brands in the UK and throughout Europe and this is expanding. Our vision is to build on our international reputation by continuing to push the boundaries and to always put our customers first. We will strive to source the latest and the best products and to design and produce the very best range of accessories.
Armex Custom Shop grew in 2017, with machines and laser etching capabilities and in May we purchased an established West Midlands based engineering company, fully equipped with CNC lathes, drilling, milling and profiling machinery, surface grinding, lathes and metal finishing equipment along with fully qualified and experienced Tool Makers/Engineers and CNC operators. It is a complete takeover by Armex of an existing, profitable well known and respected engineering company with full order books, who are currently supplying the aerospace industry, nuclear industry, medical sector, oil industry and general engineering. Armex will add its portfolio of defence industry products, Police and Military products and we will develop a range of state of the art moderators for full bore and airguns, adaptors, tuning kits, and custom parts. Our focus will be on producing ultra high quality products and we will also welcome bespoke work.
The existing owner stated that he is delighted along with other Directors, Management and employees about the wholesale takeover of the Company. Having worked with Armex for almost ten years, we have seen and experienced the growth of Armex and the level of business with Armex has increased massively; year on year, we haven’t looked back since then……
A brief history of our company
Armex has grown rapidly since the owner Mr Alan Phelps set up a company called The Armoury in 1999. We are now the UK’s leading supplier for the field sports and outdoor leisure industry and are known industry-wide for innovation, quality products, servicing and repairs and customer service.
A year after setting up The Armoury Alan’s business boomed. His new team designed and produced engineered shooting accessories such as silencers for most major UK producers. He had the biggest customer base in the gun trade for archery and exhibited at the Tackle and Gun show and IWA in his own right, gaining an international reputation for the Armex brand and the quality of its products. He employed a gunsmith and added more staff, including a designer and an engineer.
Then two years later, he approached Umarex suggesting he took 50% of the UK distribution, within a year, Armex had taken 100% of the business, thanks to the massive sales success that was driven by Alan’s strong leadership. Since then Armex have increased the sales and exposure of their brands exponentially and nurtured them through to the recognized success they are today.
Armex moved to Field Sports House in Andover Street, Birmingham 12 years ago and now occupy over 34,000 square feet.
Today, Armex continues to grow, to develop and innovate. We are proud of our strong relationships and work to support the dealers, the customers and the trade as a whole.
“Right from the start Armex had a sense for “special products” and “market niches”, so that exciting products for the English market have regularly been created ever since. The Hämmerli Seeker Kits, as well as the Hämmerli Blackout Kits, are strongly characterised by the ideas developed by Armex – and we are looking forward to discussing and then realising future projects.”
“As the publisher of Airsoft Action, the UK’s Number One Airsoft magazine, it is important to always be ahead of the game with news, reviews and articles that are of interest to our readership. We rely very heavily on airsoft manufacturers and distributors to provide relevant and up to date information and items for this purpose. Armex have supported the magazine from day one with a wide variety of the latest products for review, prizes for competitions and up to date news. Their approach has always been one of total professionalism and they are forever willing to “go the extra mile” in ensuring whatever they do is done to the highest possible standard – and this is evident throughout the company. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Armex to any business or organisation seeking a dependable supplier of top-quality products, backed up by excellent customer service.”
“Ever since Armex have been sponsoring the Umarex Boys Club, they have been great and very supportive. The knowledge within their team is top notch and they have helped members source parts as well as giving advice at every opportunity.”
“You know you’re in safe hands when you research a new rifle and the distributor bringing it in is as well-known as the product itself. As an end user investing hard earned cash into a product gets harder each year, but it makes brand loyalty and buying decisions much easier knowing that the company you buy from invests so much back into the sport you love. Competing at the highest level in Field Target, there are only a few companies I choose to be involved with, Armex being one of them.”
“Armex have always struck me as a professional, dynamic company; and a big part of their successful formula has to be the sheer enthusiasm that they bring to the market. I know from my dealings with Alan and the team at Armex, that their hearts are clearly in the right place!”
“As a member of the public and shooting world I’ve come across Armex as a friendly company who supplies all things shooting and archery to UK shops and has a good fan base. They supply people with good products with a friendly staff at the office and they are very supportive with the social network side of things keeping up to date with new products and information. I’ve not seen any other suppliers offer what Armex have – a Privileged Members club for the public to join when they have purchased products supplied by Armex. It is a good idea to keep the public involved with the company and offer competitions as they do for the members.”
