I set up my company working from home but as I started to acquire new clients I needed a better option. The extra productivity from having a place to work away from home effectively pays for the office itself. I’ve been here a year, during which there has been continued investment into the facilities by the office management. I would definitely recommend to anyone considering it.

– we currently operate six retail outlets and hold a multiple franchise contract with the Post Office. The Stores sell design-led stationery, cards and gifts as well as essential office supplies, and offer services such as printing, binding, copying and Kodak photo printing. In 2016, UOE Stores served over 1 million customers.

– our online supply chain solution for SMEs across the UK includes stationery and business supplies, facilities management, print and technology, furniture, interiors, and document lifecycle management.

– our latest innovation is co-working office space for entrepreneurs and small business owners. This includes hot desking, resident desks, serviced offices, meeting rooms and virtual offices. Membership of the UOE Hub includes membership of the NearDesk network allowing our members to work at over 250 co-working spaces across the UK. UOE currently has one Hub in Hertford and will be opening a second in Stoke Newington at the beginning of 2018.

Everyone who works at UOE is trained in every aspect of the business, so there’s always someone to help you, whatever your query. If you need the services of a product specialist, there will be someone in every Store and in the office who can help. In fact, across the entire company, we’ve got hundreds of years of experience on everything from typewriter ribbons to tablet computing. If you have a question, we will have someone with the answer.

We independently survey a cross-section of our clients every 90 days to provide us with a snapshot of how we’re doing. We read every review and comment and this feedback drives our focus for the weeks, months and years ahead.

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and ensuring we are making the greenest choices possible through improved energy awareness, clear recycling containers, and using recycled resources for our products.

Our business supply chain is fully compliant with UK, Republic of Ireland and EU regulations where they apply. In order to minimise our effect on the environment, we have implemented a management system that conforms to ISO14001:2004 and FSC CoC. We also work with Carbon Smart to develop practical solutions to help drive environmentally positive action within our business.

We are committed to continually investing in and monitoring the energy we use and the waste we recycle, making alterations wherever possible in order to improve our impact on the environment.

Products

We currently sell more than 3,000 products which have a recyclable content of 50% or more, and are continually attempting to increase this number of products within our portfolio.

Our delivery boxes are designed to ensure the products arrive undamaged. 95% of orders are despatched in fully recyclable cardboard, with other packaging materials kept to a minimum and only used when no alternative can be utilised.

We continually investigate ways to improve our business’s waste disposal operations at all locations in order to minimise the effect on the environment.

We are maximising the environmental efficiency of our logistics and warehousing include:

Closed-loop collections – whenever possible we collect returns at the same time as making the delivery, reducing wasted miles and environmental impact.

The B series paper sizes were created in order to provide paper sizes that weren’t covered by the A series and although far less common in day-to-day use are an accepted sizing format.

Paper used in UK offices is usually between 70gsm and 80gsm. Heavier weight paper, ranging from 90gsm to 120gsm, is often used for letterheads and formal correspondence. The accepted point at which paper is defined as card is 160gsm. The common weight for business cards is between 300-400gsm.
