Born 1951, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, of British parents; David emigrated to Manchester in 1962, and again (!) in 1970 to Sydney, Australia, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. David decided to return to Manchester in 1977, where he obtained reciprocal qualification to enable him to practice in the UK. In 1985, after having obtained enormous experience in both commercial and private practice, David decided the time was right to set up his own business and Tussies was born. Being part Argentinian he is, naturally, a keen football fan who loves playing 5-a-side (now that 11-a-side is a thing of the past!), and is a passionate supporter of Manchester City.
Jonathan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Tussies, and is uniquely able to see things from a client’s perspective after having worked in both industry and professional practice. He looks after and advises a varied portfolio of clients and specialises in tax, both compliance and planning. Jonathan is an unashamed couch potato and enjoys watching football, rugby and motor sport.
Before setting up Tussies with her husband, David, Sharon worked for the Medical Research Council in its Trauma Unit, based at Manchester University School of Medicine, where she gained a wealth of experience in Management. Nowadays Sharon is responsible for the day-to-day administration of both branches of the practice. When she’s not working, Sharon spends her time travelling to London to see her three little granddaughters.
Nic joined Tussies in 2008, after deciding to bypass University life for a hands-on role in order to study Accountancy from the ground upward. Nic completed his AAT studies in Summer 2012 and is now racing through the ICAEW qualification, being just a few months away from becoming a fully-qualified Chartered Accountant. Nic splits his time between the two Tussies offices, working on all aspects of Accounts and Personal and Business Taxation. Nic’s first love will always be Man United – much to David’s disgust!
Pamella started her working career with Tussies in 1998, and, although she left temporarily in 2003, in order to gain experience in another business sector, she came back to us in 2005. Pamella is our resident Jack of All Trades managing to juggle being our Senior VAT Clerk with Payroll Processing and Accounts production, as well as helping with the day to day administration of both offices! The rest of Pamella’s time is taken up with looking after her 3 young children and her husband.
Gemma joined Tussies as a Trainee Accountant in 2009, and, after attaining AAT qualification in 2014, she decided to make a giant leap, and is now part-way through, studying to become a member of ICAEW. Gemma is based primarily in the Cheadle office where she is often referred to as “Mini Sharon”, having gained enormous expertise in Payroll under Sharon’s tutelage; and that, together with her knowledge of VAT, Accounts and Taxation, is driving Gemma’s determination to become a fully-qualified Chartered Accountant!
Originally from Birmingham, Victoria moved to Manchester in 2004, where she has worked in accountancy for over 10 years. Victoria has an extensive knowledge of Payroll and became the Tussies Manchester Payroll Manager following the acquisition in December 2013. Staying true to her Midlands roots she is an avid Aston Villa fan!
Michelle has worked as a Receptionist since early 2012, and transferred to Tussies after the expansion in December 2013. As well as being kept busy answering telephone calls, and meeting and greeting clients, Michelle is being trained in Bookkeeping and Accounts preparation work, ready to embark on an AAT course.
Dionne joined Tussies after leaving school in 2014, and is currently the most junior (and youngest!) member of staff. Dionne’s is the voice that answers your calls, and hers is the face that greets you, as well providing you with refreshments and, in particular, the infamous coffee, at the Cheadle office. Dionne is currently studying for an NVQ in Business Administration and, in her spare time, is learning to drive.
Ashleigh is currently a temporary member of staff, covering Dionne Davies’s maternity leave. She comes to Tussies after years at home bringing up not only her own children but those of others as a Registered Child Minder.
The scam victims are told to go to a local shop, to purchase vouchers, and then read out the redemption codes to the scammer. The conmen then sell on the codes or purchase high value products, all at the victim's expense.
According to HMRC the scammers frequently use intimidation to get what they want, threatening to seize the victim's property or involve the police. The use of vouchers is an attractive scam as they are easy to sell on and hard to trace once used.
HMRC have confirmed that they would never request the settling of debt through such a method.
These scammers are very confident, convincing and utterly ruthless. We don't want to see anyone fall victim to this scam just before Christmas. That's why we're working closely with crime fighters to ensure taxpayers know how to avoid it.
