Reliable control and portability are critical requirements for underground coal mining operations. A mine environment is an ‘enclosed space’ where explosive dust and methane gas can be present, with areas often many kilometres from the nearest exit. In such an environment, an intrinsically safe solution - not only for the ‘at-face’ mining equipment but also the associated communications system - can provide significant economic advantage compared with conventional systems using other explosion protection techniques.

Follow the M42 northbound to junction 11, turn off onto the A444 toward Burton Upon Trent. Turn right onto the A514 (Cadley Hill Road) toward Swadlincote. Next take the second right turning into Ryder Close. Then at the T-junction, turn right, and follow the road straight on to the Island. Controlled Systems is straight on. Then just on the left.

Follow the M1 south to junction 23a, turn off on to the A42 southbound. Continue on the A42 to Ashby-de-la-Zouch then turn off onto the A511 toward Swadlincote. At Woodville turn off the A511 onto the A514 toward Swadlincote, follow the road to Burton(A444). When you get onto the road marked Cadley Hill Road take the first left turning into Ryder Close. Then at the T-junction, turn right, and follow the road straight on to the Island. Controlled Systems is straight on. Then just on the left.

From Stoke-on-Trent follow the A50 toward Burton-Upon-Trent, turn on to the A511 and continue through Burton. Turn off the A511 onto the A444 toward Nuneaton. Follow the A444 until you reach the turn off for the A514. Turn left onto the A514 (Cadley Hill Road) toward Swadlincote. Next take the second right turning into Ryder Close. Then at the T-junction, turn right, and follow the road straight on to the Island. Controlled Systems is straight on. Then just on the left.
