ABOUT LAST FRONTIERS LIMITED

At Last Frontiers we specialise in tailor-made travel throughout

We are a small, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable team, and all of us have travelled extensively throughout Latin America to find you the best places to visit (click

to meet us!). As a fully bonded and very experienced Tour Operator, we can help you plan and book your perfect trip.

. We will refund the cost if you book a Last Frontiers holiday!

We have been arranging tailor-made holidays to Latin America since 1991, when Ed Paine, Last Frontiers' founder, set off with his first client (a Mail on Sunday journalist) to Caracas and there was immediately a military coup, led by an ex army major called Hugo Chavez.

We didn't let that put us off, and steadily grew our business to Venezuela until Chavez returned as president, when sadly the demand for tourism to that beautiful country declined significantly. Luckily, we had by that time spread our wings to cover the whole of South and Central America. Our small team has also grown, and the office has moved twice; most recently to our very own refurbished corn mill in the village of Waddesdon, where you are very welcome to come and visit!

After various jobs working and travelling around the world Sue started her travel career with 6 years at Trailfinders before joining Last Frontiers in 2001. Highlights of her numerous recce trips since then have included riding in Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador and Argentina. As a wildlife enthusiast an amazing 'Classic Antarctica' cruise was hard to beat. Two further cruises around the Galapagos, one of which was on the luxury boat Eclipse, have not been too arduous! An Angel Falls river trip (Venezuela), Brazil's Pantanal, Guyana and hiking in Peru have also been top trips.

We have been helping clients plan Latin American trips for over 20 years, and know that nothing beats speaking to someone who has been there. Even though we may have our personal favourites we have all travelled widely and love to share our knowledge and enthusiasm.

We love to get feedback - it helps us find out what our clients really want. Here's a random selection of comments from our past customers!

“All our arrangements in Chile and Argentina went without a hitch. Our guides, transport and accommodation were excellent and we had a wonderful time. Highlights? All of it, but perhaps especially Valparaiso, Torres del Paine, the Australis Cruise with the opportunity to stand on Cape Horn, the Puerto Merino glacier and the delightful Buenos Aires (where we have been before, but had an extended visit) and the trip across the Rio del Plata to Colonia - what an experience. Thank you for all you did to make it a memorable holiday for us - we are delighted with the service we received from Last Frontiers.” - ML travelled in January 2017

“All the arrangements in both Chile and Bolivia worked like clockwork! Excellent drivers and guides with good English so my Spanish was not much needed! They also had a good sense of humour so we laughed a lot. The highlight was the last part of our journey down to Uyuni and onwards in Bolivia. The scenery was spectacular and driving off road was great fun. On the whole we were lucky with the weather but our second day in Lauca was marred by electrical storms so we were taken to other places. We did make a brief visit to the National Park but it was cloudy/wet and with lightning! At the border between Chile and Bolivia it snowed and we woke up on the last morning at the desert hotel to find a dusting of snow too! Thank you for all your help in organising this trip for us. I was surprised by the difference between Bolivia and Chile. The latter is a modern country but the former is steeped heavily in the past.” - JW travelled in January 2017

“We both had a wonderful time, even though the Inca Trail was more difficult than I thought it would be neither of us would have traded the experience for anything! I actually found the trail more interesting than Machu Pichu - Machu Pichu was fascinating but it didn't beat the beauty and ruins we encountered along the trail. Also, our guide on the trail was the best and it's hard to imagine a more knowledgeable guide. The hotels we stayed at were great, especially El Mapi, after four days on the Trail! Anyway, thanks for your help, and I would recommend Last Frontiers to anyone. ” - MG travelled in March 2017

“We had an amazing trip, loved Mexico and especially Oaxaca. The local operators were fantastic, all the tours and guides they provided were excellent.” - MA travelled in December 2017

“This was our first trip to Mexico and it exceeded all our expectations! We cannot say enough about the planning and professionalism of this vacation and we thank the staff of Last Frontiers and the local agents in Mexico for making it such a success. On our arrival in Mexico City we were met by our tour guide for the next two days - we cannot say enough about him, from the love and passion he had for his country and his kind and respectful attention to us both. We became very fond of him over that short period of time. Also, a personal thank you to you, you did a splendid job.” - JC travelled in January 2017

“I absolutely loved every moment of my trip to Argentina and Antarctica!! The Estancia was just wonderful, and I met all sorts of interesting people. The Ross Sea trip was simply mind blowing and again I met a wildly eclectic bunch and had a lot of fun. Think I may just have got the travel bug and can only deal with one trip being over by planning another!!! Thank you Sue for all your help and guidance over the year.” - SM travelled in January 2017

“Our trip to Peru was really amazing. I must congratulate Last Frontiers and the local travel agency on the efficiency, detailed notes an quality of guides. Your planning, with regard to altitude preparation and the occasional rest days were very well judged. We really needed the rest days, I must say, as the early starts and regular moving around from hotel to hotel can be exhausting. The Hotels ranged from very good to stunning on occasions. Highlights: of course Machu Picchu; the 1 day trek was challenging, especially in the heat but rewarding and we met at the Sun Gate as planned. Another highlight were the Condors in the Colca Valley, their skill and grace were stunning and they performed well! We both enjoyed the Andean Explorer train very much, the service and food were great and the trip was fun. We also enjoyed the Uros floating islands and meeting the people and seeing their homes, another world altogether. The care and attention for our journeys was also excellent. I could carry on but I think you get the idea that we were very pleased and your detailed notes were very useful indeed. Thank you so much.” - JM travelled in April 2017
