Barry Evans heads Evans (Instruments) Limited in Thetford, Norfolk. The company, augmented by experienced ophthalmic staff, concentrates primarily upon the design and manufacture of ophthalmic test equipment. The range currently includes instrument tables, test types, ophthalmic mirrors and practice furniture. As established and respected trade manufacturers, Evans are also able to offer many other optical equipment ranges, at very competitive prices.
With a large range of the products being manufactured onsite, the company is able to offer flexibility to suit individual requests, as well as being confident in providing specific, Group Practice image requirements. On larger production quantities, we are able to brand products with company logos, colours, etc.
Established in 1991, the company is the culmination of over 50 years in the industry. Barry’s experience includes 18 years with the hugely respected Hamblin Instruments, where he progressed to Production Director and was involved in designing the Hamblin Purvis Streak Retinoscope. Barry also worked with Ron Mallett to design the Mallet range of instruments, including the Near Vision and Distance units. He went on to spend 18 months with Dollond & Aitchison, as their Special Projects Manager, based at their Yardley HQ and, more recently, he has been involved with Professor Robert Fletcher, developing the award-winning Fletcher-Evans CAM Lantern.
