On July 1st 2013 the Construction Products Regulations come into force, which means that CE marking will become mandatory in the EU and the UK for those products covered by a harmonised European standard (hEN) or European Technical Assessment (ETA). This means the ‘CE’ mark itself represents the window/door manufacturer’s declaration that its product has been assessed prior to being placed on the market, and that the essential characteristics of the product meet legislative requirements.
The CE mark does not have to physically appear on the products themselves.
Windows and doors not on escape routes must be assessed according to three essential characteristics: load bearing; dangerous substances; and thermal transmittance.
