Sushil Verma started trading in 1984 from his home in Wolverhampton and soon grew sufficiently to rent his own premises in Dixon Street and then moved to a unit on the Old Dominion Works site before buying his current premises. Verma Enterprises Limited now owns 6,500 square feet of warehouse and offices that handles some 1200 products.
Verma is a family run business and his wife Rakesh has been working with Sushil since the humble beginnings and they are now joined by their son Kunal who graduated with a University Degree in 2009, exactly 25 years since the business was formed.
For the past 15 years Verma Enterprises have operated a Fairtrade Policy which they apply rigidly to their suppliers. Unannounced visits to the workshops and artisan studios are made at least twice a year, sometimes more often. Personally conducted by the Verma family they check that no child labour is employed and that workers conditions are more than adequate, looking for clean facilities and that welfare support is evident.
Verma Enterprises survive on the best quality products which is the primary concern and basis of a successful business. Customer service and relationships follow and Verma aims to satisfy customer requirements with courteous sales staff, swift order expedition and prompt deliveries.
Not everything in business runs smoothly and although reliant on their overseas suppliers, freight company`s schedules and UK couriers they aim to co-ordinate the entire supply chain. On occasions when these efforts look like failing Verma have in the past flown stock into the nearby Birmingham International Airport Freight Terminal to meet customer expectations.
Verma keep regular contact with their customer base by telephone and personal visits. The extensive range of product is difficult to transport for customers to touch and see the quality and photographs don`t always do them justice. To overcome this obstacle Verma Enterprises regularly exhibit at Exhibitions and Trade Fairs around the UK including the Spring and Autumn Fairs at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham as well as the Giving & Living Exhibition in Exeter and the Harrogate Home & Gift Exhibition. The latter being the first exhibition that Verma took part in back in 1984 when it was held at a local hotel.
Details of where the company will be exhibiting will be available from this site and existing customers will be sent invitations shortly before each one. If your company would like to receive one and are not on their mailing list please give Sushil a ring and he will be only too happy to oblige!
