Our nominated independent laboratories are located throughout the UK, operate to identical high standards of quality control, and are accredited under the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) for a wide range of determinands. Cooling Systems The revised ACoP requires service providers to ensure that measures put in place to control the risk of exposure to legionella are designed and carried out to be effective, safe and without risk to health when used. It is also stipulates that an on-going dialogue between the provider and the client’s responsible person is maintained. Beacon Water Treatments Ltd. is able to provide you with all necessary back-up to ensure that your system operates within the required parameters of compliance with current legislation and guidelines. Our expert team of experienced field staff are trained to provide or advise on: Monthly on-site service Legionella control programmes Cleaning and sterilisation Tank cleaning and refurbishment Installation of dosing and other control equipment Servicing of Pre-treatment plant The responsibilities placed upon operators of cooling systems under the Health & Safety at Work Act and the revised ACoP are such that the operator must take reasonable care to ensure that the service provider of his choosing is competent to carry out the requirements expected to advise and carry out work on his behalf. A Code of Conduct has been drawn up by the British Association for Chemical Specialities (BACS) and the Legionella Control Association (LCA) which sets out the 6 areas that should be addressed by the service provider. In circumstances where the Health & Safety at Work Act is applicable the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 requires that a risk assessment be carried out to identify risks of legionella associated from water sources and work activities undertaken on the premises. Most undertakings with hot water facilities will require such an assessment and it is a legal requirement where wet cooling towers or evaporative condensers are utilised.
