Pat and Diana created Lindeth Fell Country House. Over the years, the next generation of Kennedys has been involved in maintaining the high culinary and service standards. With the ongoing support of Diana, three daughters, Sheena, Jo and Kate are all involved in running the business on a day-to-day basis, assisted by and with the help of their kitchen, housekeeping, serving, garden and maintenance team.

Leave the M6 at junction 38 and follow signs to Kendal. At Kendal follow the one way system to Lakes/Windermere. At the large roundabout northwest of Kendal take the first exit signed B5284 Hawkshead Ferry and Crook. After 7 miles, at the T junction turn left. We are 200 yards on the left.

We are a no smoking property. Any person found to have smoked or smoking in the bedrooms or any of the public areas will be subjected to a £200 fee to cover all additional cleaning and dry cleaning costs and possible loss of revenue.
The Kennedy family have owned and managed Lindeth Fell since 1984. While Diana heads up the family and keeps a watchful eye on standards, daughters Sheena, Jo and Kate manage the business at an operational level. You would be hard-pushed not to meet one or most of the Kennedy family during your stay!
Paying 'only' £235,000 in 1984, Lindeth Fell has since made the most of the stunning natural surroundings and the wonderful Edwardian styling from when the property was completed in 1909. Both Pat and Diana had careers in the air before becoming hoteliers, with Pat's well documented adventurous and dangerous missions for the Royal Air Force, and Diana's more glamorous, though no less adventurous role as a BOAC Stewardess on trans-Atlantic flights aboard the Stratocruiser, frequented by the very rich and very famous.

Their products, which have won several awards have been developed to ensure traceability, locality and low food mileage. Won the National Champion award for Britain's Best Sausage in 2007.
All of our fresh fish is supplied by C&G Neves of which the majority is fished from their own boats in Fleetwood, Lancashire. We are sensitive to sustainable fish stocks and take advice from the professionals to buy fish in season at the very best quality.
From its origins as deli-retailers in Kendal town centre, the Cheese Larder have been suppliers of fine cheeses since 1990. This long established family business is run by partners Barry and Chris Carr. ‘ We support British producers wherever possible, supplying the finest home grown cheeses, many local to the area’.

While we'd love to say that all our purchases were local, there are still some products that are bought outside of Cumbria - this generally means other parts of the North of England and the Midlands. There is an obvious need to balance the quality of the produce that we use with the environmental impact and we never take these decisions lightly.
It is no secret that the Lake District has some of the best places to eat, from Michelin-standard restaurants and fine dining pubs to cafes and even fish and chip shops. Cumbria’s finest local produce features heavily on most menus, especially dishes such as curly Cumberland sausage, tattie hotpot and Herdwick lamb. This is a rural area and we do not have sufficient wifi speeds. If you reach your limit you will be able to purchase extra usage. Either 1GB for £5 or 3GB for £11 which will be added to your bill on check out. These prices unfortunately reflect the very high cost for us to provide WiFi in our location.
