St Peter’s has an outstanding academic record with children making exceptional progress in all areas of the school, maintained by close teacher assessment and standardised progress tests.
Nursery children are taken by our drivers and their teachers in our fleet of minibuses to Exmouth beach where they choose their own learning paths through various activities such as: mark making; jumping; taking risks; making dens in the rocks and colour sorting bean bags into hoops.
A parent wrote of St Peter’s production of Olivia: “It felt like something magical happened…The show was stunning and a reflection of the tremendous effort that you have all made!”
In the Michaelmas Term children play rugby and hockey and in the Lent term netball and football, in the Summer term, cricket, rounders, athletics, swimming and tennis. Squash is played all year and we are proud of our academy status.
Year 8 leavers’ programme – Beach day, Topsham cycle, North Devon expedition, cookery workshop, Time in a Bottle workshop, go to work with a friend day, helping hands day, Spirit of Adventure Cross Keys day, fishing, circus berzercus, Haldon forest cycle, lifesaving course.
In Year 7 children experience a week in France at Chateau de la Baudonniere, where they are fully immersed in the French language and way of life, enjoying three course meals and the flavours and sights of a French market in the beautiful town of Dinan. They take part in various activities including: archery, climbing, aeroball, bread making, fencing and an assault course.
St Peter’s provides extremely flexible wraparound care between 08:00 to 18:00. There is also an additional option of breakfast or supper with the boarders and also taking part in a boarders’ activity or boarding itself. Many working parents find this flexible offering hugely helpful.
