ABOUT WINDMILL CONTRACTORS LIMITED

Windmill was founded at the end of the Second World War by Johanus Verbeeten, who left his native Holland with his English wife and young family to settle in Crawley. Two of his sons Frank and Matthew (Dick) joined forces with him and eventually assumed control, developing the firm to provide high quality ground maintenance and civil engineering works as well as growing and retail. The company established a reputation in West Sussex, East Sussex, and Surrey undertaking contracts for several local authorities and other major businesses. In 2003 following many years working closely with the existing directors, David Bolton and Adrian Verbeeten assumed control of the company and have continued to expand the range of services available, whilst still focusing on the core business values. Windmill's success is attributable to its commitment to quality and despite facing a major loss with the passing of Dick Verbeeten in 2013, the continuity of the family remains, with his brother Frank providing vital support in a consultancy capacity.
