Thinking about wearing contact lenses can be a bit daunting at first, a step into the unknown and may be overwhelming to begin with. At Auckland Opticians, our friendly, highly trained staff are more than happy to answer your questions and discuss any aspect of contact lens use. With patience and understanding we will guide you through the whole contact lens process and put your mind at rest.
Regular consultations with our practitioners are essential in maintaining the health and comfort of your eyes when using contact lenses. At Auckland Opticians we offer the support and aftercare to continuing lens wearers. We will check your eyes are healthy and your current lenses are fitting well, and keep you up to date with all of the latest contact lens which are available. If you ever experience any problems whilst wearing your contact lenses, you can arrange an aftercare consultation to discuss things anytime.
Under current UK law, we are unable to supply contact lenses if your specification is out of date. By having regular aftercare consultations, we can ensure your eyes are performing at their best, and keep your specification up to date.
A comprehensive range of contact lenses from daily disposables to coloured lenses for corrected vision or just for fun are available from our branches. A full range of solutions and lens care products are available, please call your local branch for further information and availability. Please note; if you are a contact lens wearer and are having an eye examination we recommend that you contact us before your appointment.
Daily disposables are the ultimate in convenience and comfort, providing fresh clear vision with no fuss. Using a new lens every day provides a hygienic option for those not wanting to fuss with solutions. Due to advances in technology these are now available in a wide prescription range including Toric lenses for astigmatism and clever lenses with more moisture for dry eye sufferers.
Specially designed toric contact lenses are prescribed to correct astigmatism. Astigmatism is where the eye is more rugby ball shaped than football shaped. This means that someone with an astigmatism will need two different powers or prescriptions on each lens. We have lenses that can give you crisp, steady vision all day long no matter what you are doing. Toric contact lenses are available in daily, two-weekly or monthly disposable options.
As people get older generally they need to wear spectacles for reading even if they do not wear glasses normally. This is called presbyopia. It occurs as the lens in the eye becomes less supple and harder to change shape making it more difficult to adjust focus and makes close objects look blurred.
A convenient and easy way to wear lenses, monthly disposables are available in a wide range of materials and designs to suit most budgets and needs. Monthly lenses can be worn as a daily wear lens, where they are removed at night and cleaned ready for use the following day, or can be worn on an extended wear basis and left in overnight. The contact lens practitioner can discuss with you a wearing schedule and help select the correct lens for your needs.
