The company, founded in 1973 by Huddersfield-born Brian Haskell, started in a modest way with just three employees working from premises not much bigger than a modern double garage.
Its first large contract was to supply a mobile canteen to Derbyshire police force. The firm continued to supply catering equipment – mainly mobile canteens and fish and chip ranges.
Although in the early days Salamander supplied mainly to the catering industry, over the years the customer base has significantly increased with us now sub contract supplying to a wide range of sectors and businesses.
We have manufactured products which have been supplied to some fantastic clients over the years, including: Dunkin Donuts, Halifax Building Society, Barclays, Nationwide, HSBC, Moneybox, Travelex, Card Point, Shell, Esso, BP, Rontec, Tesco, Morrison’s, Carrefour, Repsol, Cooperative Bank, Game, BT, Honda, Next, Grosvenor Casino, Post Office, Holiday Inn, and International Airports including Gatwick and Singapore.

Salamander provide sheet metal laser cutting using the very latest technology - the Bystronic BySprint Fibre laser cutter.
Comprehensive offline programming software for Press brakes is used for efficiency. It also provides a full 3D simulation of the bending process.
A recent addition to the department is the Salvagnini panel bender which is capable of producing precision bends and folds at very fast speeds. This machine is suitable for batch production work.
Salamander Fabrications has 4 CNC press brakes including a 4.2 metre bed with 180 tonne capacity. We have a wide range of tooling to produce very accurate results supported by our Rad Bend software package.
For customers who want a finished ‘end product’, after we’ve cut, folded and fabricated parts from sheet metal, the next step is powder coating and assembly.
We have the facility to accommodate parts up to 3000mm long, 1000mm wide and 1400mm deep within our powder coating process. The skilled painters are also able to provide perfect finishes by hand and also a wet spray alternative. We stock a wide range of Ral & Pantone colours and finishes including Satin, Gloss, Matt, Polyester, Leatherette, Texture.
As well being able to provide the sheet metal work for your project, Salamander can do everything from design to delivery for your project requirements.

Salamander have many year’s experience in fitting electro-mechanical components and testing to ensure all functions work correctly before the completed unit is commissioned.
