Over the years, Yorkshire Caravans has kept ahead of ever evolving changes within the leisure industry and focused on customer demand and needs. We are now able to offer one of the largest ranges of both new and pre owned caravans from the award winning Bailey, Swift, Sterling and Sprite.
Our accessory leisure shop stocks over 3500 products including leading manufacturers chairs, tables, storage cupboards, security devices, Towing mirrors, toilet and cleaning fluids, awning accessories, household goods, BBQs, Leisure batteries, Gas equipment, caravan covers and so much more.
Yorkshire Caravans was started in 1931 by Percy Smith who owned and ran a petrol filling station in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Percy was asked by a customer if he could store his caravan there for a couple of weeks. The caravan created so much interest Percy decided to contact the manufacturer and agreed a deal to supply him with new caravans to sell.
Percy sold his first 3 units and invested the profit in buying 2 acres of land situated at the present location of Yorkshire Caravans. In the years that followed the company went from strength to strength selling over 350 caravans a year.
As the popularity of caravanning increased , manufacturers struggled to meet the demand and enlisted the help of Yorkshire Caravans to fit out empty caravan shells with kite marked furniture and cabinets prior to retailing.
With more disposable income and leisure time activities the 1970`s saw a golden age for caravanning with Yorkshire Caravans at the forefront. Today, the company is still family owned and operates from a 34acre site employing over 50 people.
