About Metwin
Founded in 1956 by Anthony Burcham, Metwin was initially established to overhaul, repair and replace existing steel windows in and around the London area. Today the family run business is one of the UK’s leading distributors, manufacturers and installers of steel windows, doors and light steel fabrications.
As an Approved Distributor of Crittall steel windows and doors, we install their products for both residential and commercial projects throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
With vast experience in projects involving listed buildings and properties in conservation areas, we are also specialists in the refurbishment of existing steel windows and doors.
A family run business, the team at Metwin comprises of an agile group of individuals with extensive skills and knowledge of the steel window and door industry. We all share a common commitment to communication, collaboration and creating beautiful work. It is these core values that we believe have kept the company established for over 60 years.
Company Secretary & Founder
A former World War II paratrooper, Anthony founded Metwin in 1956 with the help of a small £300 investment from a neighbor and business partner. Since then Metwin has gone from strength to strength establishing itself at the centre of the steel window industry.
Now in his 90s, Tony is still a core member of the Metwin team. Although his responsibilities in the day-to-day running of the business have subsided, he is actively present at the boardroom table.
Son-in-law to Anthony, Frank joined the family business in 1986. Having worked with BT for 30 years, Frank brought a wealth of experience to Metwin in customer care, integration and health and safety.
Frank’s career at Metwin started with small refurbishment and overhauling contracts, enabling him to learn the industry and its products. Over the years he has gained invaluable knowledge in the servicing and maintenance avenue of the industry and today runs a number of large long-term contracts in the South East.
Bernadette, daughter-in-law to Anthony, has been with Metwin since 1990. With a background in banking and law she took responsibility for the paperwork and accounts of the company.
Bernadette has played a vital role in shaping of Metwin over the years and continues to do so today. This has included moving the company from Chingford to Harlow and the implementation of modern accountancy.
Daniel joined Metwin in 2005. He had worked part-time as a teenager completing various tasks both on and off site, but left to study for a degree. After university Daniel travelled the world, before joining his father’s business full-time to concentrate on building a customer base.
Continuing the theme of long standing staff, Derek began working for Metwin in the 70s. After establishing himself as an installer of Crittall and steel windows he moved into the office, bringing with him a plethora of knowledge from working on site.
Metwin discovered Andrew almost by accident on site in 1996. At the time he was working as a decorator, but Frank recognised his potential and recruited him as a casement welder and fabricator.

Crittall’s Homelight range is elegant and timeless, and provides maximum daylight to your home due to their small profile design.
Homelight steel windows and doors are hot-dip galvanised to protect against corrosion, then coated as standard with Duralife polyester power coating making them extremely low maintenance.
With an extensive range of sections, the Corporate W20 range offers greater versatility than any other steel window on the market. Each installation includes an effective weather-stripping system and the option of double glazing, which provides exceptional thermal insulation.
Metwin are experts in the restoration of steel windows and doors, with a vast understanding in projects involving listed buildings and properties in conservation areas.
With an in-house workshop and a team of expert welders and casement makers, Metwin are able to refurbish existing installations in full, or craft bespoke components for partial restorations and repairs. This includes fabricating custom modern steel sections to bring period windows back to life, whilst maintaining the original look and feel of the installation.
