Our Company
In 1881 Mr Bateman and Mr Ogden came together to establish a brand new textile business in Bradford – the heart of the UK textile industry.

With a flair for selling and a love of fine fabrics, Bob quickly became well regarded amongst his regular customers. During this time he was introduced to the cloth supplier Bateman Ogden, then owned by the late Hugh Garnett.
Bob and Hugh became firm friends and decided to combine their expertise – he was invited to join the company in 1972. With Bob’s experience in selling to the trade, the Bateman Ogden name quickly grew – gaining a reputation for providing the finest quality fabrics.
Following the death of Hugh in 2011, Bob is now the owner of Bateman Ogden and is still involved in the day-to-day running of the business, along with fellow director Richard Lunn and their team of fabric experts.
With his experience gained at the mill, combined with his IT and marketing skills, Richard has played a major role in the on-going development of the business over the past decade.
Richard recognised that although the company already had a solid reputation with UK tailors, there were opportunities to introduce Bateman Ogden to new territories across the world. Richard therefore took responsibility for the company's growing export division and Bateman Ogden now supplies fine cloth to every continent.
In 2012, Richard became a director at Bateman Ogden and along with Bob is now responsible for day-to-day business operations and developing the future of the company.
Patricia Collins joined Bateman Ogden in 2011, taking on the role of Company Secretary.
Although Patricia had previously worked outside the company, as the wife of Bob Collins she has been closely associated with Bateman Ogden for more than forty years and is no stranger to the textile industry.
Pat has always taken a keen interest in the company’s developments and over the decades has become a familiar face to the company and its staff.
