Welcome to Fibrex Nurseries - home of the National Pelargonium Collection and the National Hedera Collection.
Fibrex is a family business, established by Hazel & Dick Key over 57 years ago.
Although Hazel & Dick are no longer with us, the business is now in the capable hands of their daughters Ursula, Angela, son Richard and his wife Heather. Ours is a truly family affair with Helena, another of Hazel & Dick's daughters, looking after the Pelargonium Collection through the summer & autumn months. Cherry, Ursula's daughter makes it a 3rd generation family company, as she is now in the office helping Wendy, who along with Sandra & Eileen have worked with us for so long now they may as well be family. Sue is still a newcomer as she has only worked here for 10 years! This year we welcomed two more newbies into the fold, Marcus & Nicola who we hope will be with us for many years to come.
From March the 1st to August the 31st we are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
From September the 1st to February the 28th we are open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
We are only open at the weekend during "Pellie Season". This runs from April the 1st to June the 25th, Saturday & Sunday, 10.30am to 4pm.
Should you come browsing in the summer or autumn you can't help but notice the Begonias in all their blousey glory.
The conservatory plants and tropical Hibiscus are grown in 1ltr pots. In this instance they are transported with their pots firmly in place but also tucked equally snugly into their own boxes as it is most important that the plants cannot move on route.
It is important to point out that although it is of course easy to sit in your chair at home, choosing your plants to be sent directly to your door (almost Amazon style) you will always get a better selection here in the nursery. The variety we are able to provide here far outstrips that which we can offer for mail order. There are of course, all those lovely little rarities that we hide away in the nursery that you might otherwise never get to see... We are a full production nursery and we are happy for you to come and see the plants being grown from cutting to finished plant. You don't get that very often these days! And of course there are the special offers that we have in the nursery to make that drive worth while as well as the advice we can give, which is second to none on all of our products.
