ABOUT LEVETON & SONS(NORWICH)LIMITED
Levetons is a family business that has been trading since 1887 and offers a comprehensive service from their studio for restoration, conservation and quality framing of oil and acrylic paintings, water colours, drawings and prints.
Levetons opened in 1887 in St Andrews Plain, Norwich and moved to Orford Hill in 1903. Its studio workshop were located later at 31 Timberhill in a purpose built studio. In 1980 the Retail Gallery relocated from Orford Hill to the same site. In 1998 the whole business left the City centre and established the studio in New Costessey and it now concentrates purely on framing, restoration, conservation and the artist material aspects of its original business.
Barry Leveton is a well-known and respected member of the Guild. He has worked on Mountboard standards and is at present working on Tapes and Adhesives standards in order to achieve recognised quality controls in the profession. He has chaired seminars, given lectures and written various articles on the subject of conservation of easel paintings and works of art on paper. In 2000 he was honoured with The Guild Lifetime Achievement Business Award.
